About Dr Josh Hatch
Dr Joshua Hatch is a Fellowship-qualified Musculoskeletal and General Practitioner with a strong foundation in orthopaedic surgery and diagnostic imaging. He is currently the Chair of the RACGP's Musculoskeletal, Sports and Exercise Medicine faculty.
He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Imaging Technology (QUT, Distinction), an MBBS (Griffith University 2012, Clinical Sub-Dean Award), and a Fellowship of the RACGP (2022). He has further specialised with a Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine (Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine, UK 2023). His career spans radiography, orthopaedic surgery and general practice.
Prior to entering general practice, Dr Hatch worked as a Principal House Officer in Orthopaedic Surgery at multiple tertiary hospitals, following a decade as an MRI and Emergency Radiographer across Queensland X-Ray, Qscan and Princess Alexandra Hospital.
He now practises at Milton Village Medical / The Back Pain Doctor, providing comprehensive musculoskeletal and spinal care integrating procedural, rehabilitative and evidence-based management approaches.
Dr Hatch provides care to residents in residential aged care facilities through Umbrella Aged Care, focusing on mobility, pain management and functional optimisation in frail and complex older adults. His work bridges procedural medicine, rehabilitation and chronic disease management in the ageing population.
He has published in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and the Journal of Inherited Metabolic Disease Reports, with research spanning orthopaedic outcomes and genetic medicine. His practice style is pragmatic and scientifically grounded, informed by his background in imaging, surgical training and longitudinal patient care across both community and aged care settings.
